The SonicSolutions® device produces a range of ultrasonic frequencies that target blue/green and filamentous algaes.
Sonic Solutions Kills 95% of the Blue Green Algae and Green Algae.
It will have no effect upon aquatic plants, such as duckweed, water meal, eelgrass, milfoil, and chara.
It is also safe for other aquatic life, such as fish, turtles, and frogs.

Placement
The SonicSolutions® Algae Control device emits ultrasonic waves that “fan out” at approximately 180℉ from the front of the transducer (see Figure 1). The nutrient level, turbidity, shape of the body of water and the closeness to the equator may affect the coverage area. The potential coverage for the SS 400 model can be as much as 1.5 acres and for the SS 500 model up to 6 acres.
Set up your device to provide the optimal exposure of the ultrasonic waves to the body of water you are treating. Place close to the edge as sonic waves extend only in front of the transducer unit. Large installations and certain shapes of ponds or lakes may require installation of more than one device. Multiple devices can be installed at opposite sides of a lake or pond or attached together pointing in different directions, depending on your site requirements
The SonicSolutions® device, like all ultrasonic devices, is a “line of sight” technology. Ultrasonic sound waves will not go around corners or navigate around islands that may be in your body of water. Ultrasonic sound waves reflect or bounce off of hard surroundings, such as concrete, rip-rap, and large rocks (see Figure 3).
FREE Site-Plan Assistance for Optimal Results SonicSolutions® units can be installed at the edge of the water body or can be anchored together at the center, allowing for complete coverage of ponds, pools and lagoons of all sizes and shapes. Based on the size and shape of the body of water in question,

On a periodic basis during use and/or after winter storage, it may be necessary to polish the front of the transducer head on the SonicSolutions Algae Control Device. Check the front of the transducer head for any deep scratches or abrasions and then please follow these instructions to polish and buff the front and sides of the transducer.
The polishing process is extremely important if you have had water. The calcium strength in the hard water will cause build up of calcium crystal on the front of the transducer face in the scratches and diminish the ultrasound signal coming from the unite.
What to buy and tools you will need for polishing:
-"West" Sandpaper in three different grits - 500,1000 & 1500 [ie:Norton Wet Sanding Sandpaper 1500 Grit avail be at home Depo].
Steps to Follow for Polishing Transducer Head:
Step 1. Start with a Dry Transducer.
Step 2. Dampen the wet sandpaper grit 500 and buff transducer face to remove deep scratches. Next, use dampened 1000 grit Wet Sand paper to polish more, and finally use the dampened 1500 grit and buff the face of the transducer. The Transducer Head should be nice and smooth when done.
Step 3. the final step is to buff a shine. To do so, use a few drops of a car polish compound [McGuire's ultimate Compound is a suggestion] and buff out any remaining fine scratches left by the 1500 grit sandpaper.
The polishing process, along with the monthly maintenance guidelines will help to maintain the optimal performance of your Sonic Solutions Algae Control Device. This process should take about 15 minute per device.

SONICSOLUTIONS SIZING GUIDE CONTINUED
THERE ARE SEVERAL FACTORS THAT COMPRISE A SUCESSFUL INSTALLATION.
KEY FACTORS INCLUDE:
1.The shape of the body of water. Ultrasonic technology is a "Line of Sight" Technology.
2. Nutrient load in the water [ORGANIC'S IN POND, FISH POND HAVE A LOT OF ORGANICS]
3. Amount of direct sunlight / geographic location of the body of water. Think Maine vs Puerto Rico.
4. Depth of the Water. Must be at least 2ft deep.
5. Aquatic plants like milfoil or dydrilla, if dense enough, will limit or block the ultrasonic signal.
Tips:
If installing with exsisting algae, most installations will require 3 weeks before a significant change in seen in the algae.
If installing prior to an algae bloom the typical bloom will be eradicated in 10 to 15 days.
Features:
UL approved power supply for outdoor use
NSF61 Certification [SS-400, SS-500 and SS600 Models]
EPA Registered
Electricity draw between 0.2 amps to 0.7 amps
Two green lights indicate unit working properly
Ultrasonic signal generated inside transducer
Up to 250 ft. between power supply and transducer

Biofilm
Aaerobic bacteria coat the anaerobic bacteria and effectively seal the anaerobic bacteria in against the surface.
•The aerobic bacteria consume oxygen and produce CO2.
•The anaerobic bacteria consume the CO2 produced by the aerobic bacteria.
•The aerobic bacteria are looking for oxygen to consume. Green (chlorophyll) algae produce oxygen.
•The algae need a way to attach to surfaces, and biofilm is that way.
Biofilm - Pre-Installation
Existing Clarifier:
–Must first be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
–The existing biofilm should be removed mechanically down to the wall surface, using either bleach or another strong cleanser for a completely disinfected surface.
Once the walls are clean and disinfected, bring the water levels up.
–Immediately have the ultrasound in place.
**Please note, you do NOT want to plug in or turn on SonicSolutions units before they are submerged in water completely
Biofilm - New Clarifier
As soon as the clarifier is being filled for the first time, immediately have the ultrasound in place.
**Please note, you do NOT want to plug in or turn on SonicSolutions units before they are submerged in water completely.
